The three leading PC makers have already regained their foothold in the US PC market in the second quarter. Lenovo, HP, and Dell saw growth, while Apple, Microsoft, and Acer were declining in the first quarter. However, HP and Dell are planning to move at least 30% of their notebook productions outside China due to the trade war.
1. Microsoft will end its support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020.
2. HP, Dell, and Lenovo regained their status with 1%, 0.5%, and 12.2% growth during the second quarter.
3. During the first quarter, their ranking is as follows: Lenovo, 25% market share; HP Inc., 22.2%; Dell, 16.9%; and Apple, 5.9%.
Quote: “While the U.S.-China trade war did not impact the PC market in the second quarter of 2019, the next phase of tariffs could have a significant impact,” Kitagawa said.(Alspach, 2019)
